Itinerary

Upon arrival in Oman, you will be greeted by your private driver and transferred to your hotel. Take the time to check in, relax from your journey, and prepare for an exciting week filled with discovery and cultural experiences.

Your journey begins with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, an architectural masterpiece. Then, you will explore the Al Baleed Museum, which offers a fascinating insight into Oman’s history and heritage. Wander through the alleyways of the Haffa Souq, also known as the “Palace Market,” where you can browse traditional Omani handicrafts, perfumes, and the world-renowned frankincense. Enjoy fresh coconut water from a roadside stand before heading to the outskirts of the city to visit lush springs that keep Salalah’s valleys green year-round.

Today’s adventure takes you into the mountains of eastern Dhofar. Drive past the impressive Travertine Curtain, a limestone cliff transformed by monsoon waters. At the summit, explore Wadi Darbat, a picturesque valley with waterfalls and hiking trails. Your journey continues to Jebel Samhan, one of Dhofar’s highest peaks, offering stunning coastal views. Descending into the valley, you will pass through a baobab forest before reaching Mirbat, a historic fishing village once famous for its horse trade. After lunch, explore the ancient ruins of Samharam, believed to have been a residence of the Queen of Sheba and a significant trade center in antiquity.

Start your morning in the Qara Mountains, visiting the tomb of Prophet Job, a site of historical and religious significance. Continue your journey to Mughsail Beach, where you will witness the famous blowholes that shoot seawater through rocky crevices at high tide. Navigate the winding roads of Wadi Aful, leading to the breathtaking cliffs of Sha’at, perched over 1,000 meters above the Arabian Sea. Along the way back to Salalah, you will stop to experience the wild frankincense trees that have been an essential part of Omani culture for centuries. *Alternative Option: Enjoy a day at Fazaya Beach, a secluded paradise, with a picnic lunch.

Set out on an unforgettable journey into the Rub’ Al Khali, the largest sand desert in the world, known for its towering dunes. Travel through the Qara Mountains and the Nejd Desert, stopping for lunch in the Bedouin city of Thumrait before reaching the legendary "Atlantis of the Sands" in Shisr, an ancient city lost to time and rediscovered in 1992. Upon arrival in the vast dunes of Hashmaan, swap your 4WD for an adventure on foot as you explore the golden sands. As night falls, enjoy a traditional Bedouin-style dinner around a campfire and sleep under a magnificent starlit sky.

Wake up to the serene beauty of the Empty Quarter and enjoy a peaceful breakfast in the desert. Your return journey to Salalah includes a visit to Wadi Dawkah, home to the oldest and largest collection of naturally grown frankincense trees, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you will learn about the historical and modern significance of this prized "aromatic gold." After arriving back in Salalah, you will enjoy a final lunch at a local restaurant before having a leisurely evening to reflect on your week of exploration. *Customizable Options: Choose from an Empty Quarter day trip, a coastal tour, or a variety of outdoor activities.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure, goodbye to the enchanting Land of Frankincense—until your next adventure! See you in next Oman tours.
