Itinerary

Upon landing in Muscat, you’ll be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may begin exploring the city’s highlights. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at your hotel.

After breakfast, start your Oman Discovery tour with exploring the fusion of modernity and tradition in Oman’s capital. Visit the majestic Grand Mosque before heading to Bait Al Zubair Museum for a glimpse into the nation’s cultural heritage. Drive along the scenic waterfront Corniche, stopping at the lively Fish Market and the bustling Mutrah Souq. Capture photos at the iconic Al Alam Palace before returning to your hotel for the night.

After breakfast, take a short flight to Khasab, renowned for its dramatic fjord-like landscapes. Explore Khasab Fort and the local museum before venturing into the rugged mountains, where you’ll witness breathtaking views and remnants of ancient marine fossils. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before settling in for the night.

Spend the day sailing through Khasab’s stunning fjords on a traditional dhow boat. Relax on deck, take a dip in the sea, and spot playful dolphins along the way. For the adventurous, snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities are available. Enjoy lunch onboard and return to your hotel for dinner.

After a morning flight back to Muscat, begin your journey toward Nizwa via the mountain roads. Pause for photos in the picturesque village of Fanja before continuing to Birkat Al Mouz, known for its lush plantations and ancient Falaj irrigation system. Arriving in Nizwa, explore its vibrant souks filled with silver crafts and handmade treasures before visiting the imposing Nizwa Fort. Spend the night in Nizwa, with dinner at a local restaurant.

Today, explore Oman’s rugged interior, starting with the awe-inspiring Wadi Ghul, often called the "Grand Canyon of Oman." Admire the stunning Wadi Nakheer and, for those who enjoy hiking, there’s an opportunity to explore the terrain. Later, visit Jabreen Fort, famed for its intricate wood carvings and striking ceiling murals. Spend the night in either Nizwa or Jebel Shams.

Head into the heart of the Sharqiyya Sands desert, also known as Wahiba Sands, home to the nomadic Bani Wahiba tribe. En route, stop at the idyllic Wadi Bani Khalid, known for its crystal-clear pools and year-round water flow. Arrive at your desert camp, where you’ll witness a mesmerizing sunset over the dunes, followed by a traditional Bedouin-style dinner under the stars.

After a Bedouin breakfast, embark on a day of natural wonders. Stop for photos at Wadi Tiwi before continuing to Wadi Al Shab, where a short hike leads to a hidden waterfall inside a cave. Visit the breathtaking Bimmah Sinkhole and unwind on a stunning white sand beach before returning to Muscat for dinner at your hotel.

Fly to Salalah, the jewel of Oman’s Dhofar region. Begin with a visit to the Al Baleed Archaeological Park and Museum to learn about the region’s rich history, including its renowned maritime trade. Wander through Haffa Souk, filled with the fragrance of frankincense, and sip fresh coconut juice by the beach before dinner at a local restaurant.

Venture east to the lush landscapes of Wadi Darbat and the towering cliffs of Jebel Samhan, offering panoramic views of the coastline. Descend to the historic fishing town of Mirbat, where echoes of Portuguese history linger in the old fort. Visit the legendary ruins of Sumhuram, once linked to the Queen of Sheba, before returning to Salalah for dinner.

Head westward to explore the stunning coastline of Mughsail and navigate the scenic mountain roads of Wadi Aful. Spend the day at Fazaya Beach, where golden sands meet crystal-clear waters. On your return, visit the famous Mughsail Blowholes, where seawater erupts dramatically through the rocks. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach before returning to Salalah for dinner.

Set off on an exhilarating journey into the vast Empty Quarter, the world’s largest contiguous sand desert. Experience the immensity of the dunes from a 4WD vehicle before enjoying a traditional campfire-cooked dinner and sleeping under the stars in a desert tent.

Awake to the tranquility of the desert before making your way back to Salalah. Stop in the Bedouin town of Thumrait for lunch before heading to the sea for a farewell adventure—a boat trip among dolphins and tropical fish. Optional snorkeling and scuba diving are available. Enjoy your final night in Salalah with a celebratory dinner.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport, taking with you memories of Oman’s diverse landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality. Safe travels home!

Fantastic Trip

I am a little late in posting a review. We returned from this trip in early March, right when everything started to close down due to Covid-19. I can tell you that the memories of this trip have kept me going while sheltering in place. If you are thinking this might be the trip for you, please know that it is very fast paced with moving from place to place almost every night was quite challenging. The cycling itself was challenging based on ones fitness level. My husband completed every kilometer, while I did about three-quarters of the cycling. A lot of it depends on the heat, but for a female in my early 50s, I found it very doable. We had the most fabulous guide and crew. I cannot say enough of about our guide Son - he was absolutely amazing - taking care of all the details while we enjoyed ourselves. There are plenty of water/snack stops with fresh fruit and amazing snacks (ginger/nuts/cookies). They take very good care of you.

A Brilliant Trip

We have been on a couple of cycling trips before and this one was probably the best. Tri our guide was outstanding and all our fellow cyclists were a great bunch of people. We got a real flavour of life in Vietnam. Lots of interesting food. The meals were good and plentiful. Thought we would lose weight but didn't! Good Hotels. Many highlights but a couple or so to point out,Whale Island and Hoi An, the 30km exhilarating downhill ride and cycling in city centre traffic...... great fun but leaves your heart racing. It is quite full on which leaves you wanting to spend more time in some of the places visited. The usual pattern is arrive at 5 - 6 pm, leave at 7.15 next morning. However we did find time to swim in the hotel pools. Overnight train was great fun ....all part of the adventure. To cover the length of the country there are some longish times in the bus but the bus was comfortable but great chance to talk with your fellow travellers. This also gives you time to see more of the country and people watch. Staggered us how much could be piled on a scooter! The bikes were ideal for the road conditions as well as being clean and very well maintained. At the frequent refreshment/rest stops there was lots of juice, water, fruit, nuts and biscuits. The driver and bike mechanic were very friendly and very competent. Great organization, things happened when Tri said they would.

Good 'ole Exodus!

An interesting blend of Vietnam from north to south including an o/n sleeper train. The success and enjoyment of these trips is usually down to the blend of fellow travellers and team leader and this one was no different. The weather, early season, was mixed with a little more rain and cloud than hoped for but did not detract from the enjoyment but a little more sunshine would have enhanced the countryside. A read of the brochure and trip notes will give a very accurate picture of the breadth and variety of the trip. The daily riding distances are mainly governed by the fitness of the participants and their ability to cover the miles in a reasonable time and for the first time in my experience of 7 trips we were delayed by some participants who frankly were not cycling fit and I wonder if they had read and understood the pre - trip advice!
