Itinerary

Upon arrival in Muscat, a transport service will be waiting to pick you up and take you to your hotel for check-in and relaxation after your journey. Overnight stay in Muscat.

At approximately 8:30 AM, embark on a guided city tour of Muscat. The first stop is the Grand Mosque, home to one of the largest single-piece handmade Iranian carpets in the world, weighing 21 tons and accommodating up to 20,000 worshippers. Following this, drive past the government ministries and arrive at the Royal Opera House, the premier center for arts and culture in Oman.

 

Next, stop for a photo opportunity at Qurum Beach, where you will also have the chance to taste traditional Omani bread with honey and Karak tea. The tour continues to Muttrah Souk, one of the oldest markets in Oman, known for its variety of souvenirs and rich history dating back over 200 years.   Following the souk visit, proceed to Al Alam Palace, the official residence of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman. A short drive away, you will see the Portuguese forts of Al Jalali and Al Mirani, which stand as historical sentinels guarding the city. These forts offer fantastic photo opportunities.   Afterward, visit Al Bustan Palace, another stunning landmark in Muscat, before concluding the city tour with a photo stop at the Parliament building, capturing the essence of Omani governance and architecture. Start your morning with a breathtaking dolphin-watching experience from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Enjoy the sight of these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.   In the afternoon, embark on a Dhow Cruise, experiencing Oman’s stunning coastline from a traditional wooden boat. The evening concludes with a delightful dinner at Mohammed House or another local restaurant, providing an authentic taste of Omani cuisine. Overnight stay in Muscat.

Depart Muscat at approximately 8:30 AM and head toward Bimmah Sinkhole, a large limestone crater filled with turquoise water, believed to have been formed by a meteor impact.   Next, stop at Fins Beach, an incredibly scenic white-pebble beach with strikingly blue waters.

 

Continue the journey to Wadi Shab, an enormous canyon gorge lined with palm trees. After a 35-minute hike, reach a crystal-clear water pool where tourists can swim through a natural cave with a waterfall.   Following this, stop at Wadi Tiwi, a lush green valley named after the nearby Tiwi village, offering breathtaking natural beauty. Upon arrival at Ras Al Hadd, check into the hotel and, in the evening, experience the unique opportunity to watch turtles nesting on the shores. Overnight stay in Ras Al Hadd.

After breakfast, depart for Sur, a historic coastal city known for its old fortresses and the famous Dhow Factory, where traditional wooden boats are still handcrafted. Continue to Omani Ghazal Farm (Asilel Farm) in Al Kamel before heading to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the most beautiful and expansive wadis in Oman. Relax, swim, and enjoy a picnic in this breathtaking natural oasis.  

 

In the late afternoon, journey to Wahiba Sands Desert, where you can participate in an exhilarating 4x4 dune-bashing adventure. Experience the magic of a desert sunset from atop the dunes before enjoying dinner at a desert camp and gathering around a traditional campfire for a memorable evening. Overnight stay in Wahiba Sands Desert.

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the dunes, then depart the desert at 8:30 AM with a brief stop for photos.   The first destination of the day is Zukait Tower Tombs, a UNESCO-recognized archaeological site featuring Bronze Age beehive tombs.

 

Continue to Jebel Akhdar (The Green Mountain), part of the Al Hajar Mountains, which rises to 2,980 meters and offers breathtaking views from the Saiq Plateau at 2,000 meters above sea level.   After lunch, visit Birkat Al Mouz, a picturesque village nestled into the mountains. Explore the Irrigation System of Al Katmyn, a UNESCO-listed site since 2006, before heading to Nizwa. Overnight stay in Nizwa or Jebel Akhdar.

Begin the day with a visit to Nizwa, Oman’s former capital. Explore the iconic Nizwa Fort, a museum with panoramic views of the city. Wander through Nizwa Souk, where you can browse and purchase Omani silver, handicrafts, and souvenirs.   Next, visit Al Hamra Old Village, known for some of Oman’s oldest preserved houses, followed by Misfah Al Abryeen, a charming mountain village.   Proceed to Jebel Shams, Oman’s Grand Canyon, standing at 3,009 meters above sea level. After a day of exploration, return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Jebel Shams.

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a journey further up the mountain to experience the breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon of Oman. Capture stunning photographs before proceeding to Bait Al Safa, an old house that has been transformed into a renowned living Omani Museum, offering an immersive cultural experience.   Next, visit Bahla Fort, where you can witness local pottery-making traditions. The day continues with a visit to Jabreen Castle, one of the most beautiful forts in Oman, showcasing impressive architecture and intricate design. Conclude the day by returning to the hotel. Overnight stay at Jebel Shams.

After breakfast, depart the hotel at approximately 8:30 AM and journey towards Wadi Bani Awf, a vast wadi in Al Rustaq filled with scenic beauty and charming villages. Along the way, stop for numerous photo opportunities, including the famous Snake Canyon. The adventure continues to Bilad Sayt, a picturesque mountain village nestled between the Western Hajar Mountains. This stunning village, located at the border of the Dakhiliyah and Batinah regions, is a must-visit for travelers exploring Oman.  

 

Next, visit Nakhal Fort, a magnificent 350-year-old fortress that towers over the surrounding date plantations and the small village at its base. Discover hidden escape routes, secret passages, and beautifully restored rooms that reflect Oman’s rich history. From the fort, continue through the old village of Nakhal to the hot springs, where you can relax and soak your feet in the warm, mineral-rich waters before heading to Millennium Mussanah. Overnight stay at hotel.

Spend the day exploring the underwater beauty of Daymaniyat Island with a snorkeling excursion from Millennium Mussanah. Discover vibrant marine life and crystal-clear waters, making for an unforgettable adventure. Overnight stay at hotel.

After breakfast, depart the hotel at approximately 8:30 AM and start the day with a visit to Rustaq Fort. Originally built in the 12th century and reconstructed in the 16th century when Rustaq was the capital of Oman, this impressive three-level fort features four watchtowers and stands as one of the largest in the country.  

 

After exploring the fort, head to Rustaq Hot Spring, where the warm, mineral-rich water is believed to have numerous health benefits, including relaxation and immune system stimulation. Continue the journey to Al Hazm Castle, constructed in the early 18th century by the Al Yarubi tribe, known for their role in expelling the Portuguese from Oman. After a day of historical exploration, drive back to Muscat. Overnight stay at Muscat.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Musandam. Upon arrival, meet your guide and embark on a half-day city tour, including a visit to Khasab Castle. Originally built by an unknown civilization, the castle was reconstructed by the Portuguese in the 17th century as part of their control over the Strait of Hormuz. The Omanis later reclaimed it in 1624.  

 

Continue the journey with a scenic drive to Jebel Harim, the highest mountain in Musandam. The four-hour tour showcases the mountain's dramatic rock formations, deep valleys, and striking landscapes. During the spring, the rugged scenery transforms with lush greenery and blooming wildflowers. After a day of adventure, check into your hotel. Overnight stay at Musandam Hotel.

After breakfast, set off on a full-day Arabic Dhow cruise. The traditional wooden boat, adorned with carpets and cushions, offers comfortable seating in both sunny and shaded areas. Cruise along the breathtaking cliffs of the Musandam Peninsula, enjoying the scenic beauty of the fjord-like inlets. A highlight of the tour is dolphin watching in the bay, where you may spot these playful creatures in their natural habitat. The boat will return to the shore in the afternoon. After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Salalah. Upon arrival, meet your guide and begin the city tour with a quick photo stop at the Grand Sultan Qaboos Mosque. Explore the impressive collection of local antiquities before heading to Haffa Souq, a historic marketplace near the Sultan’s Palace. After breakfast, begin the day's exploration with a visit to Taqah Castle, built in the 19th century. Despite being relatively new compared to northern forts, it holds significant historical value. Next, travel to Sumharam, an ancient port city that played a crucial role in the frankincense trade 2,000 years ago. The fortified ruins stand as a testament to its strategic importance.

 

Continue to Wadi Dirbat, a lush valley home to diverse flora, bird species, and hiking trails. Lastly, visit Ayn Razat, a striking spring that flows year-round, creating a serene oasis amidst the rocky landscape. Return to the hotel after a day of natural and historical wonders. After breakfast at approximately 8:30 AM, set off to see the world-famous frankincense trees (Boswellia sacra). These trees have been treasured for centuries, and the frankincense they produce was once more valuable than gold.

 

Next, visit Al Mughsayl Beach, a popular tourist destination known for its turquoise waters and golden sands. The journey concludes with a visit to the Tomb of Nabi Ayoub (Prophet Job), a significant religious site mentioned in the Bible.
